Rainbow Dash: Huh... so who did you two check last night?
Pinkie Pie: We checked Luke. He's clear!
Trixie (Nat): Oh, c'mon! We don't know for sure that Pinkie Pie's telling the truth. If she were Mafia, she'd already know who's not Mafia.
Rainbow Dash: Interesting theory you came up with there. Explain.
Trixie (Nat): I mean, think about it. Soarin was one of the cops, but he never actually confirmed that Pinkie Pie was his partner. Maybe the real cop's still in hiding. You said so yourself you thought Pinkie'd be the next target.
Doctor Whooves (Luke): That's a good point, except that would mean Pinkie Pie betrayed Rarity when she didn't have to. If she were pretending to be cop, the smart thing to do would've been to frame somepony else.
Trixie (Nat): I agree, that would be the smart thing to do... if Rarity wasn't already under suspicion. Pinkie betrayed Rarity because she already knew she'd be voted out.
Rainbow Dash: I dunno... sounds to me like you're just trying to shift attention away from yourself, Nat.
Pinkie Pie: Ooh! That makes sense. So that means Nat's one of the Mafia left. That would leave... uh...
Rainbow Dash: I... uh... who's still in the game again?
Pinkie Pie: Well... uh... let's see, ther'es you... me... Luke... Nat... and... um... Phil's out, right? Kinda weird he got taken out even though I came out as a cop first.
Trixie (Nat): Oh please, like we'd be stupid enough to target somepony guaranteed to get the Nurse's protection.

ONE VOTING PROCESS LATER...

More like she needs to get out so she won't spill the beans, she's dealing it as badly as I feared. It's obvious she's barely keeping it in, if I were the GM, would have her get out of the room, just to make sure she won't ruin the game.
Now I have half a feeling she will spill it and ruin it next day phase. >>
Am I mistaken in thinking that the Civilians have won? There's only one Mafia left, and if it's the last Night Phase tomorrow, then unless she kills someone and convinces them she's not the Mafia then she can't win... with Pinkie a cop, RD and Doc clear, that just leaves her as the Mafia.
Really poor logic by the Town today. First of all, if Pinkie is not the detective, there is a living detective somewhere who needs to counterclaim. Nobody has counterclaimed, ergo Pinkie pretty much has to be the detective.
Also, in the last Day phase, if the Town had lynched any Townie, Mafia would win. Under those circumstances, if Pinkie were a false-claiming detective, then she's almost certainly pointing to a Townie when she claims Rarity is scum. When Rarity flips Town the townies would realize that Pinkie was lying, but the game would be over already. Knowing this, a detective absolutely must counterclaim at this point. The fact that there was no counterclaim by Soarin at that point means that Pinkie has to be telling the truth.
Not necessarily. Reading this, I'm understanding the game a lot better than when I played - but I'm STILL confused. And if I were the cop, I might not realize that a counterclaim was needed.
If it's not Pinkie, and the true cop puts forward the counterclaim, then the remaining Mafia (who, at this point, have at least two members) will certainly bump off the counter-claimer.
In theory, the Nurse could protect the counter-claimer, but that assumes the cop trusts the nurse to do that without being told to. Without knowing who the Nurse is, that's a bit of blind faith.
Assuming Pinkie pie is telling the truth and the whole thing isn't an elaborate pinkie plot there's one mafia left and one non investigated person. BUT this is the one person most likely to be able to pull a come from behind victory even with a very heavy shadow of a doubt placed on them by playing Luke and Dash.
Wait, so does Twi know who's who for sure, or is she deducing? I had forgotten she was eliminating, but that doesn't necessarily mean she was watching during the night phases.
Yes, she know. Like the DM mentioned before when Luna was lost, the bumped off are still in the room, so they get to see who's who.
More importantly, she wants them to use logical deduction to figure out who the last mafia members are, but she can't say anything.
Pinkie pie is still mafia but instead of trying for a win, she's trying for a tie? If that were the case, the mafia wouldn't kill anyone next night, and would wait for the town to lynch flutters, who is the last cop. Then, pinkie kills the doctor, leaving rainbow dash and pinkie being the only ones left.
One game I narrated, a member of town managed to lynch themself accidentally. What made it worse was it was forum mafia, where you could actually count votes and think things through. They cast the deciding vote on themself.
Why would you ever vote to lynch YOURSELF? What could you possibly gain by voting to lynch yourself? You're certainly not going to trick anybody into thinking that you are a civilian and believe yourself to be mafia, or conversely that you are mafia and believe yourself to be a civilian.
To be fair, Malroth, if someone protects Nat (Trixie) after the blunder (and not just the "I'm part of the Mafia" reference, but the "I just said that, didn't I?" reaction after), they've leveled suspicions onto themselves next day phase as being the last mafia. The smart thing of the last mafia to do is go ahead and axe Trixie then, to not draw any more attention onto themselves... though, the game is almost up, I think; Pinkie's the cop, so so long as the nurse keeps her alive, the mafia's either gonna kill the last civilian, or the nurse, I would guess based on what I've seen so far... as I am assuming that with 1 mafia left, they can't guarantee a kill on whomever the nurse is protecting.
While their chances are incredibly slim anyway, I think they'd have a better shot at winning by not killing Pinky. Pinky has already told everyone that two of the folks left are clean, if she dies and her card comes up cop they'll know she was telling the truth and know exactly who to vote for.
Leave Pinky alive then do a REALLY fricken good acting job of claiming that you are the final cop, Pinky is mafia and gave up her allies to gain the trust of the others so she could win in the end (maybe with the added point that Nat is one of the stronger players, especially when it comes to the roleplaying part, so would she really have fallen for Pinkie tricking her like that or was she actually letting her lead her?), and you kept your mouth shut so they wouldn't know who you were until it was too late.
I'm totally confused, BTW.
If Pinkie Pie was a cop, and she already checked Luke and trust Rainbow (meaning she was tested her too), then she would have no problems figuring who was the remaining mafia, but she didn't.
If Pinkie Pie was a mafioso, why didn't she say something like 'Nat is not mafia, I checked her last night'? Why 'revealing' that Luke is clear, reverse psychology?
If Pinkie was neither cop nor mafia, she just said random junk... Why? No, seriously, why? Who's remaining mafia then? Luke? Rainbow Dash? Fluttershy? Spike? Me?
Actually you're right. Pinkie Pie currently has investigated all the remaining townies, which means by process of elimination she should be able to just announce both remaining mafia. They shouldn't have needed to talk Trixie in circles.
I think we can safely conclude, based on her behaviour so far, that Rainbow Dash is not mafia. (She's made no effort, for instance, to cover for the other mafia, when doing so might have kept either Shining Armor or Rarity in the game a crucial extra round.)
That means that we have three possibilities:
(1) Pinkie is mafia. But if so, why would she announce that Luke was clear, thus paving the way for Trixie to walk into her role-revealing blunder? That lengthened the odds against mafia winning considerably. Her only path to victory is being fortunate to off the cop without nurse interference, and then using the goodwill she's accumulated to convince one of the townies to turn on the other. (This is made more difficult by her announcing Luke was clear, assuming he survives the next night phase - she couldn't very well go back on that later and say he's actually mafia.)
(2) Pinkie is, as she says, the cop. If so, it follows necessarily that Luke is not mafia, and given our assumption about Rainbow Dash, that Fluttershy is. (In which case, I think her knack for being overlooked explains why Pinkie had trouble remembering who was still in... in addition to Pinkie being Pinkie, of course.)
(3) Pinkie is neither mafia nor cop. While a good thematic fit (if anyone would do such a thing, it would be Pinkie Pie), I think this is insensible. First, her takedown of Rarity was accomplished specifically on the back of her assertion of cop-ness (and of having investigated Rarity). Second, whatever pony Pinkie Pie might do, D&D gamer Pinkie Pie surely plays these sorts of games to win, and a civilian or nurse impersonating a cop by means of accusing someone else of being mafia is setting things up for disaster for the town if they're wrong.
Assuming Pinkie says the truth and is Cop, Mafia can still win if they eliminate her this upcoming Night Phase and then manage to convince Luke who Pinkie is claiming to be safe that the other player is the Mafia. But then, the Nurse could actually focus on saving Pinkie assuming this latter is saying the truth after which she'd have all the information required to convince whoever's left of the true Mafia.
