I can totally see both the righteous fury and compassion of the metallic god-dragon and the unwavering evil and greed of the chromatic dragon-goddess existing in the Friendship is Magic universe. There's some serious dramatic versatility in this setting.

Notice: Guest comic submissions are open! Guidelines here. Deadline: January 27th, 2023.

Wow, I'm surprised as to how I can actually see this playing out in the show.

Let me just take this opportunity to rant this little pet peeve of mine:
I hate when they call Celestia "Tia". I really really really do. It means "aunt" and it will never mean anything else to me.
Holygriever 11th Oct 2011, 6:55 AM Hah! edit delete reply
Eu vou chamar min ha tia... Tia Mat!
Doublerainbowdash 11th Oct 2011, 7:03 AM edit delete reply
Mmmm... Are you by chance from Catalonia? I'm from there and it happens exactly the same as you.
Shukin 11th Oct 2011, 7:49 AM edit delete reply
Actually, I know him, he's brazilian, as I am. It's really bothersome when they call her Tia, exactly because of this XD

And Celestiamat.
Herro 11th Oct 2011, 11:12 AM edit delete reply
Pretty sure it's tia in Spanish as well, though there might be an accent on the i that i'm missing.
nemryn 11th Oct 2011, 8:46 AM edit delete reply
But it should be okay when Blueblood does it, right?
Holygriever 11th Oct 2011, 9:01 AM edit delete reply
That would make it "Tia Tia". Or "Titia Tia" (titia being a "cute-y" way of saying aunt).

And yay, Bronies brazucas! :D
Harashaw 11th Oct 2011, 9:33 AM edit delete reply
Well, Celestia is often portrayed as a wise old aunt to Twilight.
YetAnotherBrony 14th Oct 2011, 12:49 PM edit delete reply
I know that feeling. Being half-Korean, I was very confused "emo" style became popular ("Emo" is how you pronounce the Korean word for "aunt".)
Anonymous 11th Oct 2011, 7:04 AM edit delete reply
That's really funny ^^ "Oh GOD! She actually wants the DM's background stories? The f'cks wrong with her?!"
Anonomity 11th Oct 2011, 8:53 PM edit delete reply
Lol, its obvious you haven't seen the first episode of MLP then.. or you're just making more reference towards the game, either way.
Anonymous 13th Oct 2011, 7:34 AM edit delete reply
Er, what? I've seen FiM plenty of times. I'm talking about the comic here...
Kd7sov 11th Oct 2011, 7:17 AM edit delete reply
...Somehow, despite me having basically no direct exposure to Transformers, your description of Bahamut left me going "...Optimus Prime?"
Philosopher 11th Oct 2011, 8:07 AM edit delete reply
Oh, man. I feel bad for all the players now that Fluttershy has the DM started...hoo boy...
Marrock 11th Oct 2011, 8:16 AM edit delete reply
Hmmm... Bahamut & Tiamat as the villains for the season 3 opener?
Harashaw 11th Oct 2011, 9:34 AM edit delete reply
Why would Bahamut be a villain? He's the Bro Dragon.
Marrock 12th Oct 2011, 7:08 AM edit delete reply
No idea, been so long since I played I can barely remember my chromatics...

Maybe he gets corrupted... possessed by Discord... ate bad clams... I don't know.
Azureink 11th Oct 2011, 10:34 PM edit delete reply
I can see Tiamat as a 3rd Season villain. She goes after the Elements of Harmony to add to her horde (as they are magical jewels). And the Mane 6 get help from Bahamut disguised as an old colt.
Colin 13th Oct 2013, 12:30 AM Horde vs Hoard edit delete reply
Um... she'd add the gems to her hoard, unless she expected them to fight for her.
Come to think of it, the draconic pantheon fits pretty neatly into D&D... headcanon'd!
Other Guest 11th Oct 2011, 8:32 AM edit delete reply
Looking back, Fluttershy earlier asked about Celestia, so she is trying to learn more about the game setting. Now it's Twilight's turn to be impatient.
Alcarinqua 11th Oct 2011, 9:21 AM edit delete reply
Heh, Here be dragons...
Moabite 11th Oct 2011, 10:44 AM edit delete reply
I imagine all the other players pulling out their mobile phones at this point.
Bugsydor 11th Oct 2011, 10:51 AM edit delete reply Spike a metallic dragon, or a chromatic dragon?

>Purple coloration
>Smaller and slower than other dragons we've seen, but more intelligent personable
>Strong personality, great wit
> Inordinately fond of gems

He's clearly a juvenile Amethyst dragon, first seen in Dragon Magazine #37 (May 1980), later reprinted in The Best of Dragon, Vol. 3.

And thus my horrible secret comes out: I've probably been playing D&D longer than most of you have been alive.

I have been playing since 1982 when I bought Dragon #50 on a whim because it had a dragon on the cover.

Higgledy-Piggledy 11th Oct 2011, 12:13 PM Dr. edit delete reply
Spike's a Gem Dragon from the Monster Manual II. Specifically and Amethyst Dragon.
Bronymous 11th Oct 2011, 12:23 PM edit delete reply
Ok, kinda scary. The Campaign im playing right now revolves heavily around Bahamut/ Tiamat (and dragons in general), and now they show up here. Guess what else we encountered in the Campaign? A Village called Ponyville. I won't go into details, but now all the PCs involved have Ponies as companions. Mines a white Unicorn, guess what her name is.
musicssound 11th Oct 2011, 4:35 PM edit delete reply
"I won't go into details..."

You are SO evil. I really wanted to know how I...I mean, someone, who is totally not me, could reasonably work that into anything...

(That'll definitely throw off my players. Right?)
Other Guest 11th Oct 2011, 10:19 PM edit delete reply
You have Sweetie Belle as a companion?
Shining 11th Oct 2011, 2:04 PM edit delete reply
Wow. This is the first Campaign Comic to include Bahamut and Tiamat in the setting.

Spike could be a Purple Chromatic Dragon.
Azureink 11th Oct 2011, 6:12 PM edit delete reply
And thus did Fluttershy learn all about dragons. Allowing her to intimidate the heck out of a red dragon later on.

Well I rather think S.P.I.K.E. is an acronym and it stands for:
Spiked Palavering & Indefinite Knowledge Extension.

So I postulate that 'he' is not only Twilight's familar, rather an outsourced or exterior brain. ^_^
Alas we know Spike is a ravashing Vampire ;)

Is it ok if I use the "Bahamut and Tiamat" thing in a fic? It just gave me an idea for a new story arc (granted, almost the entire thing is just ideas for story arcs right now, but it's a start."

I always thought that Tiamat and Bahamut was from only FF games
Sailorleo 2nd May 2018, 6:27 PM edit delete reply
Bahamut and Tiamat are actual historical mythological entities.

Tiamat is a Sumerian deity, her son Marduk was a dragon slayer (and in modern forms of the legend, usually his mother's killer).

Bahamut was an Islamic monster usually described as a fish or a whale, thought to be derived from the biblical Behemoth (despite the later not being a sea creature).
