Applejack: Y’know, ah think I’ve just about figured you out.
Rarity: Is that so? Did you also roll an Insight check?
Applejack: Ha, ha, ha. Very funny.
Pinkie Pie: Huh? What was funny?
Applejack: You’ve done nothing but talk ‘bout how nuanced and stuff yer character is. All that leaves me thinkin’, “That can’t be it. There’s gotta be some other benefit.” But at the end of the day, yer still a Rogue. It’s all about the loot.
Rarity: And why wouldn’t I appreciate “loot?” My Cutie Mark is three diamonds, after all – I have an affinity for valuable items.
Twilight: Wait, that’s what your Cutie Mark really means? Then your special talent…?
Rarity: Oh, I just have a little unicorn spell that allows me to detect treasure…
Twilight: ...<sigh> I’m just not surprised anymore.
Okay, Rarity arc ends now. I have exhausted absolutely every single "Twilight and Rarity in the boutique" screencap available. Next week is Fluttershy.
This is the best D20 pony I've found this far.

It's the one I'm using for my pegasus sorcerer. (I know it's not 4e)
As much as I agree, I think 4e better fits ponies - it just has a cartoonier feel to me, and PCs' ridiculous HP totals leave you with characters who can withstand life in Equestria. (Just look at some of RD's more spectacular crashes, or Twilight's really bad days!)
Not necessarily. Applejack is a somewhat experienced roleplayer. She may just be keeping up her in-character accent so that she can jump more quickly into character in case she suddenly needs to do some unexpected in-character roleplaying.
At least Rarity is HONEST about her characters goals. Everything is for the loot, but unlike AJ's convoluted roundabout way of doing it, she's upfront about it.
Fluttershy = Best Pony (but not by much! I love all of my little ponies). Excited to see how that turns out. Loving the comic by the way. I like the fact how the player and the character are separate.
Re-watching all of Season 1 again and my thoughts drift to how the Cutie Mark Crusaders will be depicted in this comic. Any ideas?
I'm assuming that we'll get actual little sisters from the experienced role players (Applejack/Rarity) to introduce them to role playing (and they will play Applebloom/Sweety Belle respectively). And maybe a kid that looks up to Rainbow Dash's player (for Scootaloo).
Also I think Sweety Belle will also be a Bard. But what of the other two?
I'd say the crusaders will be used as recurring pesky NPCs as their appearances in the show are nowhere near as frequent as the Mane 6 to justify roleplayers
It's interesting that Applejack's player is calling Rarity out- possibly alluding to enmity between the players, mirroring the disagreements between the two characters in the show.
Thank god I discovered and appreciate D and D and know about the basic points of what to do, not to do, and classes and stuff like that. Otherwise I'd be Fluttershy in this situation. Casual gaming, FTW! ^_^
Gotta love Rarity. A pretty unconventional rogue, but then again, Rarity is a pretty unconventional pony.
this comic reminds me of the fact that earth ponies appear to be the other races with their special abilities removed. are you giving the earth ponies any advantage to make up for lack of flying/magic abilities.
That's a common misconception. Earth Ponies have a magical connection to plants and animals. This is why Applejack and her kin are such great farmers and why Fluttershy is an oddity.
Plus, it is canonical in the show that Earth Ponies are naturally stronger and have more endurance than either Pegasi or Unicorns. Earth Ponies are the foundation for the other two.
Yes, that's what they tell the earth pony children in school. "Everypony is magical, each in his or her own way! Just because you can't fly or cast spells doesn't mean you aren't special, and don't let anypony tell you otherwise!"
Hey, some of them even buy it. Whatever helps them get through the day.
I have always loved that scene of Rarity nuzzling Twilight's side in the last panel, and having Rarity sweetly confess her roguish nature in it just makes it perfect. ^__^
You know, this reminds me of something I figured out a while back. Each Pony has a special talent, an area that they exel in, but they also have a skill, something that they are good at because they've been doing it for years. For example, Twilight's talent is magic but her skill is organization. Rarity's skill is dressmaking, Applejack's is baking, Rainbow Dash's is weather control, Pinkie's is baking as well, and Fluttershy's is berserking. Also, Celestia's is schemeing.
