Look, I've got nothing to add or remix. Twilight flailing as she learns how to fly for the first time will never not be funny and pure.

That whole thing was so endearing, and really one of the aspects that can be just transposed to the comic without much twisting.

By the way, I had forgotten just how massive her wings were compared to those of the regular pegasi. I mean, practically speaking, regular pegasus wings are hella tiny (not that it mattered in a world of magical rainbow ponies), and she *is* a princess, but it was still odd-ish on first watching.

Just think of the inferiority complexes Flurry Heart must be inducing in regular pegasi.

Aye, I remember a lot of fanart came out about that. Even drawings of Cadance looking at Flurryheart and was like "What the buck is this?"

I know they're not using Pathfinder 1E, but I always think of Twilight the first time I put a skill point in Fly for a character.

"Wow! Who is it?"

The scary thing is, it's impossible to tell if Pinkie is serious or not here.

Celestia seems oddly insistent on getting the ponies out of Ponyville. Twelve to seven she's an imposter.

Nah, just the show derailing the comic. We'll get back to Discord with eps 4.01 and 4.02.

"So, you have wings now huh? I bet you can fly pretty fast with those."
"Oh? Uh, sure, I guess. Hang on a moment."
*teleports*
...
*un-teleports*
"Sorry, I had something cooking on the stove."

Haha, when you put it that way, all Twilight needs wings for is aerial surveillance and when they need to fit more ponies in frame. For everyone else, wings would be a big help, but Twilight is so comfortable and accurate with teleport she sometimes uses it instead of walking five feet.

It also serves a bit to reinforce her element as "magic". She appears to have (in show) learned teleport directly from one exposure -- when Nightmare Moon does a teleport taking Twilight with her. Twilight's first solo teleport is the fake-out charge at Nightmare Moon. She never used it prior to then (consider how many obstacles they could have bypassed so easily: Fall off the cliff? Teleport back to path! Bridge out? Teleport across gap!).

Hmmm, Twilight's tendency to micro-teleport sometimes has the feeling of the stutter-warp of Traveller 2300 (if my memory hasn't failed).

I think Twilight was meant to have known teleport from before the show. There are lots of times afterwards when teleport can solve a problem (such as in Feeling Pinkie Keen) where Twilight still doesn't use it, so I think the simplest explanation is that she forgets to use it when panicked or distracted. As she gets more proficient, teleport changes from something that requires focus to basically a reflex, as seen in her fight with Tirek.

The original G1 Twilight could teleport, but it was slow to activate, and required concentration. The G4 pilot was heavily influenced by G1, so it makes sense that Faust was using G1 Twilight as the starting point for Twilight Sparkle's power level.

Teleporting in G1 was a very different power level from teleporting in G4. Winking in and out (teleporting) is as basic a skill to a G1 unicorn as levitating small objects is in G4, whereas teleporting in G4 has only been seen from alicorns and particularly magically gifted unicorns.

PC was a half-dragon wizard nerdboi that I've mentioned before(looks a lot like the girl from watamote, with just about the same 'tism in regards to social stuff) also had to learn how to fly once his wings emerged... Good news was he had a much older half dragon to team him... Bad news was she'd had her wings removed decades ago to better hide amungst humans, and can't just SHOW him how to do it... The lack of avian tail feathers to help steer didn't help, and he took a lot of fall damage before he figured it out(kept failing Dex checks I was giving him)...

....not as much "fall damage" as that Beholder he dropped those doors on took, tho. XD

Before you claim I was a mean DM or made it tedious, he ASKED not to just magically know how to fly when his wings popped out.

Player is a WEIRD mix of the Roleplayer and Munchkin player types...

Sounds a bit like how Spike had to learn flying after he finally got his wings, and how RD was not helpful. To paraphrase Smolder, they have feathers, you don't.

Really, she should have put together a Dragoning For Dummies book for Spike, except that would have pre-empted pretty much every Spike episode in the last two seasons.

I feel like it was a missed opportunity to not name this comic either "Foal Flaps" or "Foal Flailing" for how Twilight doesn't know how to fly properly.
