I look forward to the essays on what exactly RD did do wrong in this cluster of a session, and the nine pages of debate over whether any of it was really that bad.
Arguably, the worst she did was simply not bringing up Cloudsdale after she reunited with the others. Discord was threatening all of Equestria anyway, so his specific targeting of Cloudsdale during Dash's test didn't really change much. It's not like the understanding was "all of Equestria but Cloudsdale is in danger from the Chaos god, but thanks to Dash, now it's being threatened as well". She should have mentioned it so they knew that they might specifically have to go and put it back in order, but they knew in general they were going to have to do that anyway.
So really, all her worst is is a highly efficient understanding of the situation. If that's it, then she gets to wear the sunglasses for this.
Not only that, but ... he's a being of pure chaos. Her turning down the offer doesn't mean he's going to target Cloudsdale. Her accepting the offer doesn't mean he'd spare it. It's a flip of the coin either way, so focus on the end game.
She's not wrong. For once, she was the one maintaining fun and she beat the mind games by being too straightforward and focused on the end game. *AND* she stayed in character.
Rainbow did the best she could do, she was the intelligent that knew that following Discord game was not going to help and so tried to put a wrench in his plans. After all, there was no proof that Discord was going to leave Cloudsdale even if she agreed.
None may argue with the power of the shades! With a 20% coolness bonus, her charisma trumps everything!
Seriously though, I gotta mostly agree with RD. About the ONLY thing she might have done wrong was not telling them about what challenge or test Discord put in front of her immediately. And as has been pointed out, it’s not as if him targeting it changed anything or raised the stakes any, so I’m giving her a pass on that.
The only OTHER thing she MAY have done wrong is wind up in, she didn’t start it, an argument with applejack over her decision to NOT agree to play the chaos god’s game and get cursed like the rest and focus on the End Game instead.
If the worst things she did were focus on saving the ‘world’ and somebody else picking a fight, she’s pretty much correct.
Eh... she did nothing wrong, but she still got lectured as if she did something wrong, just so that Applejack wouldn't be the only one getting chewed out. Also known as the "argument to moderation" or golden mean fallacy.
Unless they want to imply she's at fault for being amused by the roleplay antics of her teammates and not being frustrated by Discord's challenges. Which sounds more like "you're at fault for lacking our faults." Or to put it another way, "you're at fault because we need you to be at fault, so you're guilty until proven guilty."
It's obvious that Dash is the worst, because honestly you're not even trying if the best you can do is Final Destination with such weak hitters as Dedede, Pikachu, and Ice Climbers.
I'll see your RD in Piccolo voice and raise you Twilight in Gohan voice, the DM as LittleKuriboh playing narrator, and Discord with Cell's voice. ....I may have just gotten done with a DBZ marathon before checking on this comic....
@Chronic Lurker you mean Takahata101? Given that both Perfect Cell and Alucard are massive trolls in their respective abridged series, that would be perfect.
RAINBOW DASH DID EVERYTHING WRONG! And I'll prove it in the 100 page essay I'll get to writing around...February? I don't have much to do then, so let's say, the 33rd of February? That good for everyone else? Look forward to me MELTING YOUR MIND WITH MY LOGIC BEAMS!
Is it wrong I kind of would look forward to that, if only to see what logic beams look like? Afraid I’m busy the 33rd of February. Can we push it back til the 35th?
