Already up to session 55! Wow. I can barely keep my group on track on a given session, let alone get to session 55.

I know, it's hard to believe how far the Dragon Mawlers have gone!
Winged Cat 12th Mar 2016, 11:25 AM edit delete reply
I hear that. I'm about a hour from session 120 of a game I'm running, and I'm slightly surprised I've been able to keep it running this long. (Though we're definitely in the final arc; I don't think there will be a session 130.)

Congrats on making it that far!
Winged Cat 12th Mar 2016, 7:52 PM edit delete reply
Thanks. Honestly, my main dread in reaching the final campaign isn't so much that the campaign will be over, as my main excuse for not running something else ("I only GM one campaign at a time") will no longer be valid. (Until I get inspiration for a new campaign; I try not to run uninspired ones.)

I think Fallout is Dragons is Techniclly at Session #65 counting Session 0 and the Side Sessions

Even evil has standards. When that line is pushed, they'll sometimes team up with heroes to stop it.
Ever had that happen to your group?
Only counts if the truce is temporarily.
Comic example: The Joker once helped Batman when a so called ally was a communist leader.
Someone Somewhere 12th Mar 2016, 6:49 AM edit delete reply
You're referring to his mistaken team-up and subsequent beating of the Red Skull right? Because he was a fascist leader, being part of the German Third Reich.

Well, it's actually seeming to be happening in a game I'm in right now.
It's play by post, so it takes a while get through a scene, but currently we're talking to a harpy who is offering to help us against the 'big bad' we're fighting our way to.
It's less a matter of 'he went too far', though, and more 'look, he doesn't like harpies, I don't like him, he might have me killed if he sticks around. You're all too weak to kill him without my help, so let's gang up on him'

I know harpies are naturally evil as a race, the pseudo-paladin (Inquisitor, actually) has detected that she is indeed Evil, and yet it's the two other party-members that are arguing against.
I mostly just think, in and out of character, that it'd be more interesting to see what'd happen than to make her just one more fight, while the Inquisitor plays his character as somewhat easily-manipulated by cute girls.
Hurlbut 13th Mar 2016, 2:07 PM edit delete reply
There are two scenarios that would actually have a being detected as evil in my opinion, ICly.
1. You have a history of evil acts and haven't made redemption for them or done good acts enough to balance them out (neutral) or did more (as good) providing the past is behind you.
2. You are a being made with/born from energy that can be considered evil in nature; Demons and Devils, undead, and such.

So in my opinion, the harpy has to meet the requirement for the 1st scenario in order to register as an evil. Her race being listed as slanted toward evil mean they would be compelled to do evil acts and do not have morals that compelled them to do acts that would be considered good over all.
aerion111 13th Mar 2016, 4:46 PM edit delete reply
aerion111
Well, the harpy's not very nice, so I suspect she's genuinely Evil.
I mean, sure, grumpy behavior doesn't equal evil, but she has threatened and insulted us in the same breath as she's ordered us to help her kill the big guy.
Generally, she seems one step short of threatening physical violence if we refuse.
I'm pretty sure she's killed innocent travelers before, given what the 'uncivilized' sapient races usually end up doing in DnD.

Depends on the "evil." In a game I'm currently running, the player playing a Paladin sees the good/evil sense as a license to commit mass murder.

Now, I tend to play a little fast and loose with the paladin senses, much the same way novels like the Paksenarrion series portrays them. The paladin gets a lot more than just "they're reading for evil." They might get a sense of dread, or a feeling that something horrible was committed nearby, stuff like that.

He can't seem to understand it. He keeps insisting if they are "evil" or not, and if they scan as "evil", he gets to kill them. Period. End of discussion.

So I've stopped telling him they're evil. If I want to play with the whole 'shades of grey' with any NPC they find who might come of an evil background but isn't (like the 10% more-or-less of succubi spawn who are born with clean slates,) when he asks if they're evil, I just shake my head and say no. I had him standing there blinking in confusion once. "But... she's a succubus! She's got horns! And wings! And she even ADMITS it!" And I'm like, "yes, but she's not evil. No scan result. Sorry."

One of these days he'll either get the idea that my games aren't black and white. Maybe. :)

I guess this proves the Masked Matterhorn's horn is real.
Though given she apparently lacked wings before, even if I didn't notice until I now went back and checked, I guess the 'pegasus with fake horn' theory was wrong anyway.
A shame; I liked that theory.

As do I. It's one of those times where I deliberately ignore the comics in my stories, like the dragon community in Fillydelphia.

I kind hoped that the transfer went two ways. That the power ponies subtly got part of the villain powers.

Check out that bod on panel 6. XD

Sadly, this is the last FiD update before the darn daylight savings kicks in for us US folks. Gonna mean an extra hour waiting for best comic to show up in the morning.

I've never really understood why we have Daylight Savings Time. John Oliver did a really good Why Is This Still A Thing? segment; I'm pretty sure it's on YouTube somewhere.
Winged Cat 12th Mar 2016, 11:32 AM edit delete reply
The argument goes, it's an attempt to make sure most folks' days start close to dawn, year-round. Supposedly this saves energy, reduces traffic accidents, and other good stuff.

I haven't yet seen a direct comparison of the stats about what it saves vs. what it costs.

It made a little more sense back 200 years ago when few cities had any kind of night-lighting grid and fuel being something hard to get around due to no power grid... but now in the 21st century with cities that do not sleep anymore, there's no point. The energy savings are minimal thanks to modern LED tech.

I moved to Hawaii for college, which doesn't do Daylight Savings Time, and I have to say, it is just so nice not having to deal with it twice a year. I'm considering moving back to the mainland for graduate school, and the thought of having to deal with it again is depressing me.

I don't like switching back and forth, but I wish they'd just leave it on all the time instead of cancelling it. Summer mode is *so* much better.
Pablo360 12th Mar 2016, 2:53 PM edit delete reply
Pablo360
I think Summer Mode *is* w/o DST. You don't need to save daylight when you have more of it, right?
Borg 13th Mar 2016, 1:38 AM edit delete reply
I hope that's not how you manage your money, Pablo! You save in times of plenty so your citizens won't starve when the seven sickly cows come.

. . . You are the Pharaoh of Egypt, right?
Chakat Firepaw 13th Mar 2016, 8:50 PM edit delete reply
Because it saves a lot of energy, (mostly for lighting), and it's a lot easier than getting everyone to shift the time they do things at.

That it results in a net reduction of traffic accidents is just a bonus. (There is a ~7% increase in the few days after the change but a ~0.5% decrease over the entire summer.)
Paradoxical 15th Mar 2016, 5:43 AM edit delete reply
I think there are studies which say that people buy more with Daylight savings. (Probably more junk they don't need. . .)
Flamming Bunny 12th Mar 2016, 4:47 PM edit delete reply
I really hate DST, it turns my natural advantage with sleep cycles into a disadvantage. During winter I take longer to wake up -since no sunlight- and when summer comes and sun naturally wakes me up sooner, bam! all the clockpunchers wake up even earlier like it was nothing.

Oh and Pablo, Summer mode is the manmade abomination. Winter mode is actually closer to solar time.

Have the villains even seen some of today's cages? Very unsafe, and unclean, but surprisingly fun as it turns out.

... they have that model of cage, right?

I'm reminded of the Batman Animated Series episode where Harley actually captured Batman and The Joker came to "save" Bats.

Joker even tried to just shoot him and failed.

Ok, so...
Fetlock got Fili-second's powers
Smudge got the weather control ones? Or the energy beams?
Long Face got the materialization ability
Shadowmane got Mistress Marevelous's
High Heel got Saddle Rager's
That means Mane-iac got either the energy beams or weather control.

Again, I haven't read the comics, so this is a reference -- mostly for myself -- to keep things straight, since they aren't explicitly spelled out in words for me.

Smudge got Zap's powers.

I feel bad for Shadowmane. "A lasso."
That's not just a sigh, that's a Spud-level sigh. XD

aerion111
Well, I'm pretty sure 'Mistress Marevelous' is a 'flying brick' where the flight's been replaced with a prehensile lasso.
So he (she?) should at least be tougher, stronger, and so on.
Actually, thinking about it, apparently a lot of the bad-guys look like guys (insert anti-feminist rethoric here, I guess)
I mean, it's fine (just fun to joke about), but come ON, I'm getting tired of the zero tolerance for strong male background characters, and casting the villains as males doesn't help.
Borg 13th Mar 2016, 1:47 AM edit delete reply
Mistress Marevelous is Wonder Woman with some Batman mixed in, I'm pretty sure.

And at least half of the villains are female. Mane-iac and High Heel are obvious, Shadowmane is also a mare, and Smudge could be any gender for all we can tell.
