No new Fallout is Dragons or Dynamic Duo this week, and I am not happy about that. The former got unavoidably eaten up by my schedule, and the latter failed at the last second due to hardware cable issues. Arrrgh.

I did finish part of one thing this week, though. Some of you may remember me playing a bad adventure game called "Spud!"... Some of you may be aware there was a sequel. Some of you may have watched me play it live. Well, the first of two 2-hour sessions is now up on the ol' YouTube channel. And it's still awful.

Do you have a thing for self-inflicted pain of bad games? XD I'll have to catch this.

As for the FiD comic, gee, seems like AJ's player is pissed about something. Guess the theory that she missed all her skill checks was the correct one? Dang, I need to know. Cliffhangerrrrrrrrr!
Luna 10th Oct 2015, 7:09 AM edit delete reply
That, or she's pissed to be contacted about the game when she made sure to notify the GM she would be away ?

On that note, I think it's kind of a dick move from the other players to insist on knowing about AJ's whereabouts. When a player is absent for a session for real life reasons, common courtesy is to simply accept whatever reasons the GM come up with to explain that player's character's absence for the time being, especially if that's "she's off doing some stuff on her own". Not go after said character when her player can't be there to play her... :/
Digo 10th Oct 2015, 9:15 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, it's kind of annoying that the players are so determined to find AJ, when maybe she's just take time to relax after participating in a really physically intensive rodeo.
Borg 10th Oct 2015, 10:51 AM edit delete reply
You could look at it as being very committed to roleplaying. Not that very committed roleplaying really sounds like this group.

But I can totally imagine a mindset where you are trying to telepathically beg the GM to give you an in-character reason not to do something that you don't want to do. And that would include chasing down the absent player's character.

I blame the DM, probably shouldn't have said that the rodeo was already over, but instead said that it would be in a few days.

Now to play the waiting and laugh hysterically in a few days.
Luna 10th Oct 2015, 10:19 AM edit delete reply
GM was put on the spot there, with the players being that insistent when she said that AJ was not there and provided an in-game explanation to it. Can't really blame her for messing up, but yeah, should have put a hooves down and cut it short, explaining clearly that AJ's player not being there, following after her char is not a thing they should be doing.

Only, usually players are sensible enough to get it without pointing it out too blatantly.
Kereea 11th Oct 2015, 4:14 AM edit delete reply
Or that "given how strenuous this particular rodeo is, she's probably resting up before the long journey home."
Or even "she may be taking a brief rest or already be on her way home, given the distance."
I definitely think the GM actually calling AJ was a BAD move. It might make the players think she's in play when she's not.

AJ: Hey guys, sorry I missed last week. What's going on?
DM: So, after the record-breaking tornado, the gang is all heading down to Appleloosa to...rescue you.
AJ: ...Say what?
TS: It was your telegram. "Not coming back to Ponyville. Don't worry, will send money soon."
PP: Clearly you've been press-ganged by this cherry lady. Don't worry, we're on it.
AJ: ...Huh...*glares at DM* I would have thought I would have been a little more tactful in my letter home.
DM: You're the Element of Honesty and I was improvising, what did you want me to do?

The first post didn't go through, so here's the short version.(Starting to hate my tablet right about now)
Beauty and the Beast, with ponies.
I'm thinking, Sombra as the Beast.
And maybe Blueblood as Guston.
What do you think?
Disloyal Subject 10th Oct 2015, 8:57 AM edit delete reply
Disloyal Subject
Self-importance aside, Blueblood is nowhere near Gaston's testosterone-poisoned bulk.
...Crud, I'm defaulting to Disney's take on a story. That's disturbing. Back to the stream! (New episode, the 5year celebration, a nice, foggy morning... today is a good day!)

Me during the first 8 min: it's ok so far, but is it really worth a song a min and the reactions is getting.

Me during the middle: Well I didn't see that coming but still top 10/5/3 ep really?

Last 5 min: ... Holy F*** that was amazing, first time this show has ever left me speechless, first time the show made me cry as well because the pure feels in the end, plus you know who, invoking that at the end hit a cord with me .. I really need to stop now before I forget the spoiler ban but wow

Rarity was orriginally going to be Belle...but then they decided to base it off the Disney version, and make Belle a bookwyrm. So Belle is now Twilight.

Or a movie/play/concert.

Or on a plane, the operators of which still enforce a "no cell phones in flight" rule.

Or in the middle of a stakeout.

Or she's helping with surgery and there were complications.

Or she's a police negotiator and the crazy gunman with hostages is being stubborn.

Or she's an elected politician, the lone honest council/legislature member in a sea of loonies and special interest mouthpieces.

...hrm. On that note, Rarity's player as head of a philanthropic trust (with FS's as her right hand, evaluating proposals to see which will do the most good), TS's a senior researcher of some stripe, PP's an entertainer with at least a nation-wide audience, and RD's a military vet?
Digo 10th Oct 2015, 2:17 PM edit delete reply
I used to call up friends and find that they're in the middle of watching a movie at the theater. Heh, well that'll teach them about shutting off phones (or at least put 'em on vibrate if you're expecting something important).

@NewbieSpud
I had fun chatting with Dally, Cuteless, and the others while you tried to salvage the Dynamic duo stream, and I look forward to joining your next stream tomorrow night (JurriRig is my user name on hitbox)

As for the comic

AJ you are making a big mistake by trusting the GM
HonorableInsanity 10th Oct 2015, 12:25 PM edit delete reply
Oh dear god the Quivering... After the first stream ended I was unsure as to whether I wanted to watch the youtube video to catch the stuff I didn't see, but after the end of that second stream... if I ever saw anything from the quivering again it'd be too soon, and I didn't even have to actually play the game. It wouldn't even feel right to joke about it anymore...

Fucking one armed bandit... crane game tokens... it hurts just to think back to it... I feel sorry for you for having to endure that as the player Spud, I really do.
Blueblade 10th Oct 2015, 8:22 PM edit delete reply
I feel like I've played a game similar in presentation to the Quivering (You can click in a certain direction and from your characters Pov you walk the next location) but I remember it actually being a fun game (unlike the quivering)... What was it again? Hmmmmm...
Blueblade 11th Oct 2015, 11:32 AM edit delete reply
I think it was an Aladdin game... Yep it was it definitely was I'm seeing images of it just flash across my eyes (I think that's the right term?) as I'm typing this... That was a fun game. At least I remember it being fun.

Friends,

I met the nicest mare, and I'm staying a bit longer than expected. I also popped my first cherry, and boy, was it sweet. It was so juicy and slick, very different from apples. I'm staying here temporarily, in order to explore this new feeling better. Everything's okay, and I'll come home soon.

Pff, sounds just like my old groups. They'd all be set up to go out on the main quest, only to be completely distracted to the point of campaign derailment, over something stupid, and yeah, it even happened over PCs not being able to show up for the day, them actively trying to interact with said absent characters, even though I said they couldn't. They'd spend asinine amounts of time trying to come up with reasons as to why they could, and should be able to, especially the damn rogue that wanted to steal from every absentee. Taught her a lesson though, when she was absent, by allowing the party to sell her ass into slavery. Needless to say, when she was speaking to me again, the message was received loud and clear.
