Flying too close to the sun? Anyone?

Well, it's still slightly less literal than canon Rarity in Sonic Rainboom.

We didn't have a session of Fallout is Dragons this last Sunday, so there wasn't going to be an episode this weekend. But then, on a whim, we decided to run another mini-session on Thursday! So we're editing that, and hopefully it'll be done before the weekend's out (we've had some technical difficulties trying to rush it out, though).

Man, you pick some of the best facial expressions. I'm amazed how you can find just the right ones from the episode you're covering.

Also, FIRST!

Haven't been this early in a while.
I absolutely love the last three frames, they fit amazingly.
This is gonna be fun.

Was this one of those comics that was influenced by the people asking about what she'll do so Celestia doesn't recognize her, or was it already planned like this?

I think it was planned and the comments have no influence whatsoever...(rolls bluff...Nat 1) umm said no pony *POKERFACE*.
FanOfMostEverything 23rd Aug 2014, 8:57 AM edit delete reply
Spud probably planned it. On the other hand, in-story, I wouldn't be surprised if the DM decided to spring Celestia after hearing Rarity's plan.

Vampires get so screwed by technology when they're played in modern setting. None of my former players have forgotten the time they managed to capture a vampire's coffin, load it onto a rocket, and then slay the vampire so that his 'smoke-cloud-remains' are forced to get into the rocket.

NASA was confused about the fact they launched a vampire into orbit. The vampire even more so... for the minute or so he had before the sun came up over the horizon.

As Celestia is a benevolent ruler, she's probably going to tell her she can continue her things as long as what she does doesn't endanger anyone other than herself, and she doesn't steal anything from the royal treasury (and the party will say "oh well, guess you can't steal anything", and Rarity will say "Oh ho ho ho ho, that's what you think"

Video! (x2)

Rarity might be the teams face, diplomat, and resident sticky-hooves, but I hope her bluff skills matches her WIT and REPUTATION

Celestia: Why hello, Rarity. Have you been enjoying your stay in Canterlot?
Rarity: Um, y-yes, it's been fabulous. Seeing all the sights, taking in the culture.
Celestia: That's good to hear. By the way, I was wondering if you'd like to be my guest at at royal fundraiser tomorrow. All of the upper class will be there, and I'm sure you'd find some new clients for your dresses. There's a pony named Fancy Pants that I know you'd get along with, and I've heard rumors about a mare named Dainty Dove who seems to be a rising star.
Rarity:...About that...

You would be amazed how many groans you can get by uttering the words "By a staggering coincidence..." after the party has decided to do anything remotely risky. It doesn't even matter what you finish with because their moaning will follow immediately.

You rolled a natural 1 on Diplomacy? The princess tells you to kiss her hooves.
Boris Carlot 23rd Aug 2014, 1:02 PM edit delete reply
I know guys who would consider that a nat 20 result. >_>

They're not so different sometimes. Roll too well on a daemon-summoning roll (critical success!) and you get, not just the daemon you wanted, but also one you've serially bullied and... this.
Digo 23rd Aug 2014, 7:09 PM edit delete reply
I generally "apply the protocol" before even rolling when dealing with a princess. :3

I guess I should call for story time.

Tell a story about almost getting caught, but not being sure if you actually were.

Step 1: Break into bank vault via sky-missile pod thing.

Step 2: Ransack contents of personal safe 1180-317b.

Step 3: Escape.

Steps 1 and 2 go off without a hitch, but we get spotted by guards on our way out (thankfully masks are a good way of keeping incognito.) I am left with either go through guards or jump through window into next building... I jumped. But on the way, I lost my mask due to stray shot from guards, but landed safely into next building. When I got up and dusted myself off, I realized I had landed in an orphanage, and they were all awake. I couldn't really harm children (or the innocent for that matter) and just left and walked back to our base of operations, where I still wait to find out if the orphans will describe who jumped into their room.

(IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!)

I KNOW this happened a few times in our fiends-masquerading-as-ponies' efforts to rig a flower contest, but no story springs to mind. Closest would be not knowing if heavily drugged witnesses who escaped the massacre we committed on a wealthy pony's manor recalled anything lucidly enough to testify.

It occurs to me to quote-mine our good webcartoonist:

"It's been so much fun exploring Rarity's deep, dual-natured character in almost every possible way for the past five months.

...

I can't wait for an arc that has nothing to do with Rarity."

Said just over 150 comics ago. :p

My brother and I are part of our high school's rocketry club. Every year we send as many teams as we can to a national competition in Virginia. His team decided to call themselves Project Icarus. Of the four teams we sent, they came dead last.

Engineer and author Neville Shute pointed out that Icarus wouldn't have died from the wax melting when he got too close to the sun -- he would have died when the wax turned brittle and shattered in the increasingly cold air.

Except that by the time he was born, Helios had been canned, and his job had been replaced by an automated system for centuries. Poor idiot got fired after he completely ruined Bring Your Kid to Work Day for everyone.

He was replaced by a system that was more expensive by an order of a few hundred million magnitudes, but on the other hand, the giant fiery ball was very unlikely to let a child burn the Earth to ashes.

Sadly, Neville was not a scolar of history, or he would have taken these facts into account.
