Oh, these guys again. I'd probably enjoy these more if I was a GL 3.5 fan, bu that mostly boils down to "op build" jokes from what I saw, so yeah...

The guy playing Soarin' is Phil, who plays Usopp in GL3.5, and, well... he's not a regular roleplayer, let's put it like that. He might have only joined the group because he heard there were girls playing.

Interesting that both characters he plays wear goggles.

Hey look! A butterfly!

(Truth be told, I once got separated from my team by over an hour in-game because I was distracted by a butterfly. They thought I was a goner, and I don't blame them)

Story Time! Tell us about a character whose behaviors change in different scenarios! My character Kirito is usually pretty stoic, but gets near sadistic when he has a POB to mess with.

Umm . . . "POB?"

Most of my characters are very high on the honor bar, and unless the enemy uses a honor less move do they fight unhonorably in return. One character I played before hover, was a little more then, angry, when the enemy decided to use hostages as well. Sure, the character I had wasn't really a good guy to begin with, but when he learned about the guys with living shields, I technically lost my character to play as for a bit. It was as funny after the fact, dealing a 84% enemy casualty on his own, that it was the DM's idea for what would happen.

I had a doctor character that was usually calm and friendly, but under high stress he'd make a lot of really gallows-type jokes to cope. It's like pressure made him smile like Pinkamena. Pretty scary.

My drow rogue from my writings' party is a cheerful, happy-go-lucky hedonist, and generally kind to beggars and the like (when they have the guts to ask) - "Ask and ye shall receive," and all that. However, if one demands instead of asking, they will bleed until they have no blood, and lemon juice may be involved. His smile only broadens as they scream. More than once, he's been strolling by a town getting raided by orcs, and only stops to help when some desperate townie begs him to, because why not? They asked nicely!
He had an... interesting childhood, like most expatriate drow.

Kinrah 26th Apr 2014, 11:12 AM edit delete reply
Well, actually, there is - Gordon, he who appeared in Nat's flashback. Unless he's GL3.5's GM, and will move from GMing to play Sanji, he hasn't appeared at all.
CrowMagnon 26th Apr 2014, 12:26 PM edit delete reply
Okay, yeah, that would make sense. Between the hinting that GM and Gordon are the same person, and being Phil's roommate, that would explain why he's able to drag Phil into it.

Elimidate: Thunderdome

MMA dating game show where women beat the crap out of each other to win a date with the dude. Professional catfighting between two female masters of their respective martial arts.

SOMEBODY MAKE THIS HAPPEN! THAT IS SO HOT!

Abuse is not okay. Hitting someone who can't fight back is usually frowned upon by society. A fight between two equals for the purposes of mating is hot. The more skilled, the better.

I have... generally societally frowned upon interests.

I play Dwarf Fortress. How could I not?

Personally, I'm with Kaze Koichi on this one. I don't really like the idea of violence in the first place (I'm a pacifist), but violence to be the main thing for a dating game? seriously? It's the same reason I dislike Football (the American version).

Plus, imagine how freaking terrible that would be for those who weren't like Rainbow or Applejack.

I know this seems long and unnerving for the more, "cool", people, but seriously. (Face hits keyboard a few times).
Disloyal Subject 27th Apr 2014, 10:39 AM edit delete reply
@Specter - Well, it wouldn't be forced on people. If it was, then violence would be called for to end the violence! And that's where paladins come from. ...hmm; a paladin who reads Mao Zedong sounds like fun...

Yeah I know, and I am well aware of the historical quote, "If you want peace, prepare for war." I just don't like it.
Raxon 27th Apr 2014, 8:38 PM edit delete reply
Raxon
There are many unpleasant things. Nobody who truly understands war wants to participate in one. War is a violent, terrible thing, which should never be the first option. However, a nation must defend itself. In addition, there is a complicated international social system in place. Basically, if someone makes an attack on you, and you just sit there and take it, others will attack you thinking you're weak and vulnerable. Thus, a retaliatory strike is required to ward off future attacks. At least, that's how it was until recently.

Long story short, pacifism and kindness are nice here in the first world, but countries with starving people, without the comforts you take for granted, can only be ruled through force, because when there isn't enough to go around, people are not friendly and generous. They are not neighborly.

People devolve into violent savages when placed in desperate situations out of necessity. Not because they want to, but because they must in order to survive. That is why most third world countries have volatile political climates, and regimes rise and fall every couple of years.

Uncle Quark explains it well.

That said, organized martial arts are not the savagery war is. It is a sporting competition, not a life or death struggle.

Heh. I used to be a pacifist, too. If your moral high road requires everyone else to respect your moral high road to function, you won't last long. I'm not knocking peace or peaceful solutions, I'm just saying that sometimes, peace can only be obtained after you have shown your resolve to fight.

Also, for reference, two women catfighting does not interest me. A regular catfight is boring, and I find myself disappointed. What I enjoy is watching two skilled and powerful participants face each other in such a way that they are at least fairly evenly matched.

DBZ, Mightest Disciple Kenichi, Bleach, Yu Gi Oh, Mar, Hikaru No Go, the list goes on and on. I hate watching little league, and I hate watching complete amateurs try to fight.

Besides, catfights are almost always between Hollywood bimbo types. You know, the beautiful types who always get their way. They are the least interesting type of person.
Super Kami Guru 28th Apr 2014, 1:41 AM edit delete reply
Specter, while I respect your views, morales, and opinions; I'm gonna have to agree almost literally everything Raxon said. The only thing I have yet to actually witness is a real catfight and then I can decide as to whether or not they are entertaining.

That being said, please don't take it the wrong way

I've seen a few. The women just claw at each other and pull hair. And scream. I was about ready to wade in there and beat the tar out of them both, just to make their horrible banshee screeches stop.

Altogether uninteresting and unappetizing.

I've watched some European football. They can just as 'personal' as American football at times.

Neither can hold a candle to the violence that is hockey though. :3
Raxon 28th Apr 2014, 4:53 AM edit delete reply
Raxon
You seem to be forgetting the European version of American football, rugby. It is like American football, but you are allowed to use serious injury causing moves, and no protective padding is used.

And yes, nonamerican football is just as bad, probably worse. At least we don't have riots over who won the big game.
Specter 28th Apr 2014, 7:42 AM edit delete reply
I do not disapprove what anyone has said, I actually agree with pretty much all of you (Just like the quote from Gandi near the end of the A-Team movie).

kriss1989
Specter I'm a pacifist too. There is a big difference between violence and a sport. A sport is something done with rules and regulations to prevent injury, and is performed on a voluntary basis with all involved. Violence usually has neither of those factors, especially the first part, and has serious real life consiquences. If you not like them, that's nine. Heck, I wouldn't watch the show either, not because I'm a pacifist, but because it sounds tacky and low grade.
Specter 28th Apr 2014, 3:50 PM edit delete reply
Specter
Yeah, I know. I just have to large a biased thought towards anything my family has ever done (kind of like coffee). But I do know that there are reasons all of those exist. Heck, in most simulation games like SimCity or civilization, I sort of help promote those stuff. So yeah, you can all pretty much say I am biased on the subject and hypocritical. (It's all the same)
