Looks like it's that time again, where I have to share my new installments with the premiere of new episodes of My Little Pony. (Not that I'm complaining!) I officially don't want any spoilers from the new season in the comments section until Tuesday. In fact, I might just make that a policy for each new episode... but especially this freaking premiere. (No spoilers from that other thing that's premiering today, either! I'm still working through Series 7.)

In other news:
- The incoming changes to the Cast page are turning out to be more intensive than I initially planned. It's gonna be pretty sweet, and it'll all go up on Monday, I swear!
- One of my little side-projects, a Let's Play of Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, has just reached its finale. If you don't watch any other episode of it, at least watch that one. It's freaking awesome.

Poll time:
which episodes do you think he will do in the future? No discord, wedding, crystal kingdom, or season 3 finally.(cause those are too obvious) 2 episodes per guess.
Me: Both Trixie episode.(Keeps trying to prove she is better).

How about taking the players and giving them some dragon characters for Dragon Quest? Too Many Pinkie Pies could be interesting also. Both would take some fairly clever screenshot selection, of course, but I reckon it can be done!

Sonic Rainboom and Fall Weather Friends might be good episodes to see.

...Of course, if Newbiespud wishes to enlighten us as to his actual plans, I wouldn't mind that either.

I guess "Over a Barrel" will be the next one.

Pathfinder
I don't know what he will do - I have pretty lacking model of his preferences and plan. But it would be fun to see:
1. Best Night Ever as social encounter - with lots of plotting, secrets, infiltration and cover mission of Immposible style. Probably with some thief guild thrown in. It would be a chance for Mane6 to help individual member in their personal quest.
2.Luna Eclipsed/Lesson Zero as horror/mystery with insanity, fear and eldritch abominations/cursed spellbooks.
Funny fact: Google Chrome dictionary doesn't like "eldritch" and suggest replacement in the form of "britches"...

Yes. Old. Yes. I am not caring. Yes, I am with the evil. :D

I find myself siding with Twi here. The 'Why' I think is very important and relevant to any action. :) Motivation helps determine when to cleave that random NPC in half or just roll them for their boots.

Although as I think about it, I remember a campaign where the GM allowed a player to get a really vague super power. It was time manipulation and the issue I had with it was that the vagueness allowed the player arbitrary control on said power.

Meanwhile the rest of us had clearly defined powers with rules we had to follow.
Vegetalss4 23rd Nov 2013, 9:44 AM edit delete reply
While I in general agree with you and Twilight about the "Why" being important, this specific case is an exception.
Not as in "Pinkie Sense" is an exception, but as in "why someone would fall in a ditch in a hypothetical example" really doesn't matter to explaining what exactly it is pinkie sense does.
Digo 23rd Nov 2013, 5:03 PM edit delete reply
But Pinkie is a bard. How do I know she didn't use Suggestion to make me fall into that ditch to prove her Pinkie Sense? ;)
JSchunx 23rd Nov 2013, 8:18 PM edit delete reply
Turns out she's manipulating everything to convince twilight she has mystical foresight. Bardic powers, bribed beekeepers, charm spells and the like to convince people that her powers are real, and so on.

It's a conspiracy, I tells ya!

I hear that today, Martha Jones and Rainbow Dash team up to fight changelings while Twilight Sparkle repairs the Doctor's sonic screwdriver in order to stop the Daleks from destroying Ponyville.

How about a story time where a player finds out (accidentally or deliberately) the GM's adventure plan and spoiled it to the rest of the party?
(Relevant I think)

A few years ago I had prepared a really good dungeon crawl that would end with an encounter against an elder blue dragon (D&D 3.5, the CR was around 22 I think). Well, I had thrown out some first draft notes I didn't need the night before. Apparently during the session one of the players got curious with my trash and peeked, thus learning of one of the dragon's secret weaknesses I had designed (and two plot items in the treasure hoard).

He told the other players behind my back, but one player was honest enough to slip me a note about it during the dinner break. He even said I should change the weakness so he and the other players don't try to metagame it. I did and well... that metagaming attack plan failed spectacularly. :3

They still won the fight, but had to work for it like they were supposed to.
Valron 24th Nov 2013, 11:31 PM edit delete reply
I was in a similar situation to your's, Digo, though on the player side. My GM once forgot one of his notes in my dorm after game finished one night. After some debate, another player and I decided to read it. It was all the stats and plans for my new, evil sword that was magically bound to my character. We were good and fessed up to it immediately, but I'm sure he had to scrap most of his subtle plans for the sword and start over. Not that it really mattered, since that game died not long after that.

Recently I managed to convince some friends of mine that I've played Shadowrun and World of Darkness with to give Pathfinder a try with myself as the Gm.

This is the first real time that I'm going to GM something (There is a short mission in Shadowrun I ran once, but it was rather small since all I had was a Gm cheat sheet to work with and no experience)

I already have a pretty solid idea on how to bring the party together without doing the standard 'Everyone goes to a Tavern and meets there' kind of deal, but I would welcome any advice from more experienced GM's.
Crazy Tom 25th Nov 2013, 8:46 PM edit delete reply
Sometimes it can be easier and helpful to have the characters already know each other in-game. Perhaps they've worked together before or something. It's not always a good solution, but it could be useful. If you do plan on having the characters meet up at the beginning, it can be helpful to require your players to have a good reason for going with the plot hook (money, fame, justice, etc).

Do what I did when season 3 was ending. Just don't log on to here till you watched the episode. Still, that no spoiler till Tuesday rule is a good idea. And it didn't help me when I was playing world of warcraft before watching the show and a random comment revealed that Twilight had wings anyway.
