And suddenly there were Season Two panels! Up until recently, I've only had access to Season One episodes for screencap material. This is the first page to feature proper screencaps from the second season. (I've grabbed a couple of other S2 images previously, but they weren't from a high-definition source in my possession - I had to stretch a little to get those. No longer!)

So many elephants, so little page space. On the other hand... there isn't one, actually. It's a one-handed deal. Well, we could theoretically put a hook on the other arm to have something there, but I think that would just destroy the point entirely.
Aerion Snowpaw 16th Feb 2013, 9:10 AM edit delete reply
Wouldn't there be more of a point to a hook?
DoubleCross 16th Feb 2013, 9:16 AM edit delete reply
You'd think that, but by using the hook so much you'd blunt the end.

DIS-CORD! DIS-CORD! DIS-CORD!
Digo 17th Feb 2013, 6:10 AM edit delete reply
I could see the Discord episode be nothing more than the players arguing over how to deal with the threat XD

I've had sessions where the party did that-- ARGUE on how to take out the boss, and the boss was even there in the room listening to this. The boss asked if getting shot in the head was an option just so he could stop listening to the squabble these heroes had.

Just 'cause somepony has criticisms about a story doesn't mean they didn't enjoy it. Applejack's the only one here who is being contradictory.

If we're starting with the criticism, I agree with Flutter that the curses were a bit silly - didn't really fit with the campaign up to that point - and I think I'd prefer it if Zecora was a bit less evil.

Well, I can't wait to see if any of them turn out to be Trek fans and compare Discord to Q, or make it a joke comic like DM of the Rings used with comparing Saruman and Dooku as they were the same actor.

This DM is the biggest woobie ever. I just want to hug... him? Her? It? The DM sounds like Newbiespud, but it seems weird to think of a game with six girls and a male DM.

Maybe it's the gender swapped Newbiespud who's the DM! Newbiespuda!
DoubleCross 16th Feb 2013, 10:06 AM edit delete reply
...You used his web-name and then you... failed at it.

I mean, his real first name lends itself so easily to this! In both obscure and obvious ways!

But in general I'd just like to think that he's been doing 'girl' voices the entire time.
Kitchen 16th Feb 2013, 11:07 AM edit delete reply
I always thought the DM to be a guy, which might come from Spike being part of the "Mane 7"

I'd feel inappropriate using his real life name. Usually it is considered a faux pas of the highest order.

The DM is the person who had the idea for the pony campaign, created it, and got the story rolling. The DM is Lauren. If that isn't enough proof, it's been confirmed in one of the guest strips as well.
DoubleCross 16th Feb 2013, 1:04 PM edit delete reply
The guest strips aren't canon. I would've thought that to be obvious...

Might be Griffon the Brush-Off, A Dog and Pony Show, possibly even Stare Master if it's a solo session.
Grey Pen 16th Feb 2013, 10:15 AM edit delete reply
Stare Master? I'm thinking Fluttershy has to babysit her sisters (OOC), and enlists the DM's help.
zenaku 16th Feb 2013, 12:00 PM edit delete reply
Stare Master was already used as a guest comic.

Hmm... Swarm of the Century would be good. So would Over a Barrel.
Lyntermas 17th Feb 2013, 11:21 AM edit delete reply
Lyntermas
I don't think being used as a guest comic necessarily excludes an episode from being in the main comic. It seems Newbiespud gravitates towards episodes that use all of the Mane 6, so Swarm of the Century is a good contender, as is Over a Barrel ("MORE PARTY-SPLITTING!?!").

However, I would like to see Look Before You Sleep (half the gang is out of town, so DM has to think of something to keep the remaining engaged without it getting so exciting that the others would complain they missed it) and Sonic Rainboom (...Because Sonic Rainboom).
Digo 18th Feb 2013, 5:02 AM edit delete reply
Sometimes when most of the party is gone, the remaining members for that session get treated to something extra fun.

Our of a normal 6-member group, only 2 of us made it to the last Shadowrun game. So the party consisted of the southern farm girl mage with a thick drawl and the half-Japanese cali samurai who yells like Jackie Chan.
The GM ran us through a hotel under the town river and it played out like BioShock, except instead of Big Daddy, we were fighting Harley Quinn and Penguin from Batman the Animated series.
Walabio 16th Feb 2013, 11:58 AM edit delete reply
I saw the new episode and the new documentary.

Evidently, mixing up cutie marks mixes memories too.

I do not know how I feel about Twilight Sparkle becoming an Alicorn. I hope that this is not the end of the Mane 6. As long as the Mane 6 remain together, it is good. Breaking up the Mane 6 would be like breaking up the Quartet of Kirk, Scotty, Spock, and Bones on Star Trek. Speaking about Star Trek:

That flankhole Abrahams will release another abomination soon. He destroyed 50 years of continuity already; the Original Series, the Animated Series, the Movies, the Next Generation, Deep Space 9, and Voyager all never happened. Now, Abrahams wants to destroy Star Wars too.

I saw the new documentary about Bronies and PegaSisters. My original reaction when I went to download it was:

“¡12.99 U$D! ⸘Are you out of your mind‽”

I could experience a movie for 10.00 U$D with 48 FPS, 10 KW of THX-Sound, stereoscopic projection, 4,096*2,160P resolution from the Front Row Center. Paying 2.99 U$D more for something I watch on my monitor in 2D, at 1,080P, at 30 FPS, with only stereo-sound seemed like a terrible value in comparison. Then I remembered an offer from PayPal.Com:

PayPal.Com offered me a service where I buy now and pay later —— at 19% interest. I turned it down because I am not stupid. I remembered that PayPal.Com gives 10.00 U$D for opting into the service. I opted in, used it to buy the documentary, paid the monthly bill in full, thus accruing no interest and with no intent of ever using that service again, got the bonus as a 10.00 U$D credited to my account. ¡Effectively, I got the documentary for only 2.99 U$D!

Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony is a very good documentary. My only gripe is that too much had to go on the floor of the cutting room to fit it into 90 minutes (being 90 minutes, it is the perfect length for a TV-Movie when on takes into account commercials). Peter Jackson and James Cameron have shown that people will watch 200 minutes of movie, if it is good and we definitely have sufficient material.
DoubleCross 16th Feb 2013, 12:26 PM edit delete reply
Okay sooo...

The diversion about JJ Abrams takes up more words than your review of the day's episode, you admit to getting the brony doc by fixing it so you didn't actually pay full price out of your own money, and the entire thing is written in language that at first made me think you were a spam account.

What are you doing, kiddo.
Walabio 16th Feb 2013, 12:39 PM edit delete reply
Sorry to offend you, but I do not have any stories about feed-back, so I wrote about other pony-stuff. I expressed how I feel about the comic by rating it 5 stars. Since I did not have an anecdote about feedback at the end of session, I throw in some feedback about the season-finally and the documentary. I figured that since it is ponies, it is on topic, thus contributing to the conversation.

As comments go, it's less "offensive" per se than "painting an image of a person who has a very high opinion of themselves and a very low opinion of other creators and their work."

But I refuse to think that's all you are, Walabio. It's too easy to malign someone on the Internet based off one comment. I'm sure there's more to you than this... It's just a rather poor first impression, is all.
Walabio 16th Feb 2013, 3:30 PM edit delete reply
I do not have low opinions of the work of others. I just do not have any feed-back-anecdotes, but I did rate the comic 5 stars. I liked the episode today, but I fear that Princess Twilight Sparkle might move to Canterlot, thus breaking up the Mane 6. It is true that I have distaste for Abrams, but he has distaste for half a century of continuity. I gave Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony a positive review.

Well, I am hyperactive, and I do lack most basic self-preservation instincts and aversions to pain.

I also collect large, pointy things, and once accidentally almost castrated myself with a can opener.(Always wear pants while cooking. Also when there are wasps in your house.)

Other than that, not so much in common. Well, aside from the fact that I have an unhealthily low number of turn offs. I'm not homicidal yet. A maniac, though, probably.

The old Star Trek continuity wasn't destroyed or else Nero wouldn't have been able to go back in time in the first place. After all, how can the Vulcan Science Academy develop the Red Matter to create the time warp that sends the Narada back in time if it was destroyed with Vulcan?

The old continuity still exists (just play Star Trek Online if you need proof) while the new movies take place in an alternate timeline that shares a common history, kind of like Godzilla movies and Transformers.

"What was the deal with Pinkie?"

Interesting. Funny how RD's only comment amounts to, "Wait for it..." and Pinkie isn't anywhere to be seen.

If I was to stat her as a 4E NPC or monster, I think I'd have to peg Pinkie Pie as a lurker. RD would be a skirmisher and AJ would be a soldier. Twilight is likely artillery, possibly with the leader subrole. Controller might seem a natural choice, but she hasn't really exhibited much of that speciality.

Fluttershy and Rarity are more difficult to assign. It's tempting to make the former a controller, albeit an unreliable one, and the latter a brute. There's no reason to believe Rarity could dish out or take more damage than anyone else in the group, but we've seen her display a mean right hoof a few times now. Besides, it's funnier this way.
