Okay, Rarity arc ends now. I have exhausted absolutely every single "Twilight and Rarity in the boutique" screencap available. Next week is Fluttershy.

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of Best Pony and Pretty Dang Good Newbie Roleplayer.

Well, that's not quite true. Tom is actually best pony. But he's not showing up for some time, yet.

Thanks to you, I am now looking for a D20 guide for ponies :P
bobrony 1st Oct 2011, 4:14 PM edit delete reply
This is the best D20 pony I've found this far.

It's the one I'm using for my pegasus sorcerer. (I know it's not 4e)
Derpyhooves 1st Oct 2011, 4:58 PM edit delete reply
Everypony knows that 3.5 is better than 4e.
Colin 13th Oct 2013, 12:22 AM edit delete reply
As much as I agree, I think 4e better fits ponies - it just has a cartoonier feel to me, and PCs' ridiculous HP totals leave you with characters who can withstand life in Equestria. (Just look at some of RD's more spectacular crashes, or Twilight's really bad days!)

NOT TRUE!!!

Exhausted every screencap? But we haven't seen Twilight in tons of different dresses!
Azureink 1st Oct 2011, 7:47 AM edit delete reply
The author must be saving those screencaps for when the group needs to don disguises.

Wait, since applejack's player is OOC right now, is that her real accent?
Anon 1st Oct 2011, 11:00 AM edit delete reply
Not necessarily. Applejack is a somewhat experienced roleplayer. She may just be keeping up her in-character accent so that she can jump more quickly into character in case she suddenly needs to do some unexpected in-character roleplaying.

Or maybe it's her real accent. Who knows?

Brilliant!

...says the character whose special talent is "getting a steady income of gold".
kriss1989 1st Oct 2011, 9:19 PM edit delete reply
At least Rarity is HONEST about her characters goals. Everything is for the loot, but unlike AJ's convoluted roundabout way of doing it, she's upfront about it.

Gah...the irony! Too much...for...me!

Is Fluttershy the only one who picked a talent without resorting to meta-gaming?
Anonymous 1st Oct 2011, 7:02 PM edit delete reply
...and possibly Pinkie? Although she might have picked partying the better to troll with; it'll depend on how Pinkie ends up characterized.

Fluttershy = Best Pony (but not by much! I love all of my little ponies). Excited to see how that turns out. Loving the comic by the way. I like the fact how the player and the character are separate.

Re-watching all of Season 1 again and my thoughts drift to how the Cutie Mark Crusaders will be depicted in this comic. Any ideas?

I'm assuming that we'll get actual little sisters from the experienced role players (Applejack/Rarity) to introduce them to role playing (and they will play Applebloom/Sweety Belle respectively). And maybe a kid that looks up to Rainbow Dash's player (for Scootaloo).

Also I think Sweety Belle will also be a Bard. But what of the other two?
Herp 2nd Oct 2011, 5:15 AM edit delete reply
I'd say the crusaders will be used as recurring pesky NPCs as their appearances in the show are nowhere near as frequent as the Mane 6 to justify roleplayers
Trey 2nd Oct 2011, 5:33 AM edit delete reply
It's interesting that Applejack's player is calling Rarity out- possibly alluding to enmity between the players, mirroring the disagreements between the two characters in the show.

Nice touch!

I love Rarity. SO MUCH.

Social Rogue was such a brilliant class idea.

"Okay, Rarity arc ends now."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO D8

Thank god I discovered and appreciate D and D and know about the basic points of what to do, not to do, and classes and stuff like that. Otherwise I'd be Fluttershy in this situation. Casual gaming, FTW! ^_^

Gotta love Rarity. A pretty unconventional rogue, but then again, Rarity is a pretty unconventional pony.

this comic reminds me of the fact that earth ponies appear to be the other races with their special abilities removed. are you giving the earth ponies any advantage to make up for lack of flying/magic abilities.
TheDoomBug 2nd Oct 2011, 4:38 PM edit delete reply
That's a common misconception. Earth Ponies have a magical connection to plants and animals. This is why Applejack and her kin are such great farmers and why Fluttershy is an oddity.
Azureink 2nd Oct 2011, 9:27 PM edit delete reply
Azureink
Plus, it is canonical in the show that Earth Ponies are naturally stronger and have more endurance than either Pegasi or Unicorns. Earth Ponies are the foundation for the other two.
Chris 3rd Oct 2011, 12:01 PM edit delete reply
Yes, that's what they tell the earth pony children in school. "Everypony is magical, each in his or her own way! Just because you can't fly or cast spells doesn't mean you aren't special, and don't let anypony tell you otherwise!"

Hey, some of them even buy it. Whatever helps them get through the day.
kriss1989 3rd Oct 2011, 8:51 PM edit delete reply
Just like those kids I consistently beat in math, reading, and science without even trying, even to this day in college.

Ooh, elitist AND cynical! You never see those two together.

This is my favourite comic so far because it's stepping further away from the known plot.

Don't know why I'm only realizing it now, but I accidentally made the perfect video for this comic back before I had ever heard of it.

Never Split the Party anyone?

See, this (and AJ) is an example of why min-maxing need not ruin roleplay.

Twilight('s player) may learn too.
Maklak 15th Nov 2011, 7:08 PM edit delete reply
Hey, how cute. You used the "I'm going to slit your throat with my horn" panel. Too bad, You didn't squeeze in a joke about it.
Solario the Visored 17th Nov 2011, 1:31 AM edit delete reply
I have always loved that scene of Rarity nuzzling Twilight's side in the last panel, and having Rarity sweetly confess her roguish nature in it just makes it perfect. ^__^
Midnight Blaze 24th Aug 2013, 10:07 AM edit delete reply
You know, this reminds me of something I figured out a while back. Each Pony has a special talent, an area that they exel in, but they also have a skill, something that they are good at because they've been doing it for years. For example, Twilight's talent is magic but her skill is organization. Rarity's skill is dressmaking, Applejack's is baking, Rainbow Dash's is weather control, Pinkie's is baking as well, and Fluttershy's is berserking. Also, Celestia's is schemeing.
