This arc's not quite over yet, but we finally got through the wedding itself. I know I say this every time I'm wrapping up an arc (because I keep pushing myself), but hoo boy this one has been a toughie.

Rarity's expression as she grabs the bouquet is disturbing to me. Part of the episode's humour if memory serves.

Ironic, considering the series finale....

I do enjoy weddings.
The chaos beforehand, the unity during, and the soon to be chaos afterwards.

Hey, even a being like myself need a little bit order.
Can't completely form without something to latch on to.

Last time I tried talking about 'happy wedding memories', I had a panic attack which led to an asthma attack...
Only wedding I can remember going to is my brother's and his abusive now-ex...

In general they seem to be so fake. People focus too much on the wedding and not enough time on the relationship sometimes.

And now, panel 8 has me seeing Vegeta's presence at Yajirobe and Korin's wedding in a whole new light.

(I'm talking about DBZ Abridged, by the way.)

Ok, I just found DBZA thanks to you. Crap, I meat to get stuff done today! LOL. Thanks. Which episode is that?

The wedding thing is part of the Broly movie, which is near the very end of the series. The first few episodes could be better, then Nappa shows up and it gets great and generally stays great. Pretty much everything TFS did for DBZA was awesome, but their abridging of Hellsing Ultimate might be better than DBZA honestly.

For the record, I’ve enjoyed this arc, so well done!

The gag with Luna does sort of highlight the impression that they had to scramble to include her in the episode after it was already plotted out. Personally, I always thought we could she was off doing her own investigating of the source of the threats and if not for Cadance and Shining Armor would have returned with an army to retake the capital.

Nah. The wedding took place during the day. Luna sleeps by day. Perhaps Chrysalis's plan needed to be done by sunset to account for this, but Luna would normally have simply been unaware until then.

In Nightmare Moon armor, no doubt...

Now, there is a thought worthy of Dragon Ball (any)...

Nightmare Moon vs Chrysalis

On the other hand, Chrysalis turning into Nightmare Moon to intimidate Luna or to convince people she'd gone evil again is something I'd wanted to see.

Admit it, Twilight, the kidnapping and war was the best part :p

Awwww man. I've caught up. I came here at the end of February from a post on the LDS Supergeeks FB group and thought I'd spend ages catching up. Did so in less than a month.

This is so fun. There's so much to love here but I especially love the little details, like AJ not clarifying if her accent is native or not, LOL. The characters and dynamics are so enjoyable, you make me wish I were in there playing it with them!

Trailing horseshoes behind the carriage to me is odd because that would be like... in our analog it feels like we'd have Sketches trailing behind the carriage. Then again, probably good idea not to trail cans because then you get some goats following the carriage.

Also, what, no tossing of the garter by the groom? Okay probably not since the show needs to keep its family rating. XD

Apparently, particularly if you go back before the early 19th century invention of canning, the tradition used to be to tie old shoes to the wedding carriage, so either the show's creators did their research, or they got lucky with their substitution.
Draxynnic 21st Mar 2021, 6:20 AM edit delete reply
From what I recall, too, it's also one of those 'make noise to scare off evil spirits that might seek to bring misfortune to the couple' things, so old horseshoes would serve as a suitable noisemaker in a setting where horseshoes are plentiful.

The bigger issue would be that when the ponies are shown wearing shoes, they're generally not traditional horseshoes (as seen by what Cadence is wearing), but that could be a factor of regular horseshoes being something subtle that isn't normally worth drawing separately.

Interesting! So it goes farther back than I realize.
Draxynnic 22nd Mar 2021, 12:28 AM edit delete reply
Wouldn't surprise me if it's an Older Than Christianity thing, with people just updating the method of making noise according to what was convenient at the time.

You've done well. This has been great.
