This is something I kind of wanted to avoid until basically at the end. One, because no one at the start of this session would want to assign that kind of intimate obligation to Twilight's player, and two, because it invites some slightly weird discussion topics regarding Equestria as a setting... when at the end of the day, it's a pun for fun in a cartoon.

Nice way to end a session. Sweet moment between Twilight and Shining Armor's players, too.

In my family, siblings are always in the wedding party. Just seems to be that we consider our siblings among our best friends too. We are lucky, I think, that we have gotten along for the most part. Not all siblings do. :(

I've heard two origin stories for the role of 'best man'.

One is that he (and the maid of honor) served as backups, in case the primary groom (or bride) fled, because setting up a wedding is expensive and difficult so *somebody* is going to get married, damnit! The makes the assorted best man replacements in media slightly awkward, but also hilarious.

The other is that the best man is short for 'best swordsman' and would stand armed and at attention throughout the ceremony (and sometimes through the wedding night) in case anyone tried to prevent the wedding from happening, such as if the bride's family disapproved and attempted to haul her back home (in some accounts the duties of the best man extended to assisting the groom in 'retrieving' a bride who was kept locked away by overprotective family). By this logic, you should always pick the highest level adventurer you know.

And here Twilight did, in fact, retrieve the bride who was kept locked away - even if not by family.

Coincidentally, both of those stories sound fake as hell.

I was invited to a friend's wedding where the best man and maid of honor were gender-swapped. I called the groom's prime female attendant his best mare and got away with it :p

Would that be a best maid and bridesman?
