I've mentioned before that the character of Pinkie Pie tends to autonomously run amok whenever I sit down to write her, yeah?

Now she and Discord get a scene mostly to themselves.

It's just going to be a constant headache for a while, isn't it?

For a while? Even after they become friends, Pinkie still makes Discord back up a step in defense. XD

You're lost here, aren't you? Good.

Rendering Discord speechless is quite an achievement.

I like to think that discord just has nothing to add considering how odd and chaotic pinkie pie is normally- If it hadn't been necessary for his plan I like to think he would have left her alone, she did genuinely enjoy some of his creations... That could be a good story, Pinkie being alone in Discord's world wandering about
Everglue Horace 4th Jul 2018, 5:11 AM edit delete reply
I believe the IDW series made a comic where pinkie wandered into Discord's world by accident and immediately took over. It ended rather unspectacularly in a sort of "Homage" to the Lucifer comic series that was either inspired or spun off from Neil Gaiman's Sandman... Seriously, You know it's bad when you think Lucifer could do a better job of ruling a realm of chaos than Pinkie Pie, then again... there is the possibility Discord is a Lucifer expy. Although, in my head cannon I imagine Derpy is Lucifer, Satan, and Mnemosyne for some reason.
The Old One 3rd Jul 2018, 10:21 AM edit delete reply
He's not speechless, he's *thinking*. If that doesn't concern you, you don't fully appreciate his capacity for improvisation.

On the other hand, Pinkie is already a spirit of chaos,so there is the very real possibility of out-Chaos-ing the chaos Lord.
Of course, knowing Discord is terribly clever implies he may out-out-chaos Pinkie.
But Pinkie is so random she may out-out-out-chaos Discord.
But Discord has probably done this longer, and probably has a tremendous "evil voice", which could be distracting enough to out-out-out-out-chaos Pinkie.
And yet.....

Enough speculating! Get on with it!

Alright, spill it. The suspense is killing me. Because you made a physical manifestation of suspense and it's trying to kill me!
TyrantViewer 4th Jul 2018, 8:17 PM edit delete reply
Would making revelations in general hurt a physical manifestation of suspense?, maybe you can fight it by revealing what presents you plan to give to your next friend with a birthday or something

Headache? This is my typical headspace when I write ponyfics... which probably explains a fair amount.

Also, there's at least one other way to descale a dragon beyond the obvious: Give it a disease that makes it shed.
Guest 3rd Jul 2018, 7:22 AM edit delete reply
How many ways can a dragon be descaled?

Molting
Shedding
Plucking
Radiation
Genetic Modification (give it the dragon version of early onset baldness)
Acid (assuming flesh dissolves but scales don't)

... And I think I'm done here.
Anvildude 3rd Jul 2018, 7:31 AM edit delete reply
Whatever happened to Seathe the Scaleless...

Or, you know, throwing lightning bolts at them, I suppose.
Borg 3rd Jul 2018, 8:53 AM edit delete reply
How about making the dragon swallow a powerful bomb?

The scales will probably mostly survive the explosion.
Waffle Sorter 3rd Jul 2018, 8:58 AM edit delete reply
I feel like skinning it - presumably with a very sturdy and/or sharp blade - would also count as a method.
MooseImperium 3rd Jul 2018, 9:58 AM edit delete reply
Don't forget teleporting the scales off it with weaponized teleportation.
Winged Cat 3rd Jul 2018, 10:04 AM edit delete reply
Winged Cat
Magnetization, if you can find (or induce) something the scales are strongly attracted to but the skin isn't directly affected by.

Would shearing be too close to skinning to count as a different method?

A trick (or forced) diet that makes the scale/skin connection weak, so they just fall off as the dragon moves around normally.
WuseMajor 3rd Jul 2018, 10:02 AM edit delete reply
Anyone here read Dealing with Dragons? Acting very un-draconic in front of the King of Dragons seems to be another method of descaling a dragon.

And let's not forget one of the simplest methods: A comically massive Bic razor with magically sharpened Mythril blades. Not pretty but by the Goddesses, it gets the job done.
Dragonflight 3rd Jul 2018, 8:37 PM edit delete reply
Why be excessively violent, when comic relief will do just as well.

Give the dragon an Itch.

An itch it can't scratch. That just *moves* the more it gets scratched. No matter where it goes, or how hard it's scratched, the Itch just moves to a new place.

By the time you finally let it go, the dragon's panting helplessly on the ground, and you've got a small mountain of loose scales to gather up.
Professor Harmless 3rd Jul 2018, 8:39 AM edit delete reply
Sometimes you don't have to get the scales off the dragon. Just the dragon off the scales.
Waffle Sorter 3rd Jul 2018, 8:59 AM edit delete reply
Well, that's hardly nice. Dragons are allowed to care about their weight as much as anyone else is.

What are you talking about? This is going to be FUN!

Quite. Not infrequently, my characters - in RPGs or normal stories - have done exactly this. It is almost always a treat to see what they do (and when it isn't, it's easy enough to force them out of the unenjoyable parts), and when writing stories it takes a lot of the work off (because I'm just transcribing what happens instead of having to mentally force the gears of the plot along).
dziadek1990 3rd Jul 2018, 10:26 AM edit delete reply
I personally haven't lead a game session in a LONG while. I just write now, but yeah: putting the Free Spirit characters in almost *any* situation makes even *me* curious what will they do, because I improvise like hell when writing them.

Like, in one (also MLPxD&D-based) story I have been writing slowly for years, Pinkie somehow managed to improvise a whole conversation about *boogers* with the GM, and made it engaging.

So silly! So fun! :D
dziadek1990 3rd Jul 2018, 11:41 AM edit delete reply
Winged Cat, did you ever write something so absurd that it made YOU go " *I* wrote this?? What the eff?! "

If yes, then are you willing to share it?

And if you are willing to share it, then share it.

( I am adding this last bit in case you are in a pranking mood right now, and are interpreting people's questions literally, deliberately ignoring the requests *implied* by the questions. :P )

Sometimes it's nice when characters write themselves and you don't need the inspiration to.

Sure beats writer's block, anyway.
